Tips: What is a GFCI outlet?
GFCI outlet are protected sockets that monitor current and identify leaks in the circuit. If a leak is found, the GFCI will trip the circuit and stop the current. This safety feature is ideal for mounting sockets in areas with water, such as bathrooms, laundry rooms and above kitchen countertops. The figure below depicts two tamper-proof, GFCI-rated receptacles of 15 and 20 amps.
