Tips: How does a 3D ultrasonic anemometer differ from traditional mechanical anemometers?

Traditional mechanical anemometers use moving parts like cups or vanes to detect wind speed and direction, which can wear out or fail under extreme conditions. In contrast, ultrasonic 3D anemometers have no moving parts, making them more durable, maintenance-free, and highly responsive. They measure wind in three axes (U, V, W), providing full vector information, which is especially valuable in complex airflow environments like urban canyons, tunnels, or between buildings.
