Tips: Can saturated calomel reference electrodes be used in non-aqueous solutions?

Saturated calomel reference electrodes (SCEs) are primarily designed for use in aqueous solutions. The internal filling solution of SCEs typically consists of saturated potassium chloride (KCl) in water, which allows for stable and reproducible potential measurements in aqueous electrolytes. However, SCEs are not suitable for non-aqueous solutions due to the potential for changes in the reference electrode's performance.

In non-aqueous environments, the water-based filling solution may evaporate or be incompatible with the solvent, leading to unreliable readings and potential damage to the electrode. Alternative reference electrodes, such as silver/silver chloride electrodes with appropriate filling solutions, are often preferred for non-aqueous systems to ensure accurate and consistent potential measurements. Choosing a reference electrode tailored to the specific solvent and electrolyte system is crucial for reliable electrochemical measurements in non-aqueous solutions.

Builder in Product TAB

NEW! Since Journal 3.2, the much improved T.A.B (Tabs Accordion Blocks) system supports the page builder inside the tab content. Unlimited Blocks, Tabs or Accordions with any HTML content or the builder interface (supporting custom rows/columns/modules) can be assigned to any individual product or to certain groups of products, like entire categories, brands, products with specific options, attributes, price range, etc. You can indicate any criteria via the advanced product assignment mechanism and only those products matching your criteria will display the modules. Also, any module can be selectively activated per device (desktop/tablet/phone), customer login status and other criteria. Imagine the possibilities.
