Tips: What is a Pirani sensor?

A Pirani sensor is a type of vacuum gauge used to measure pressure in the medium to low vacuum range, typically from around 1 torr to 10-4 torr. It operates based on the principle of thermal conductivity.

The core of a Pirani sensor consists of a thin, electrically heated wire or filament, which is placed in the vacuum chamber. As the pressure decreases, the number of gas molecules in the chamber also decreases. This reduction in gas molecules results in less heat being conducted away from the heated filament.

In the presence of a gas, the filament loses heat through conduction and convection to the surrounding gas. The amount of heat lost depends on the pressure and thermal conductivity of the gas. The Pirani sensor measures the temperature of the filament, which is influenced by the pressure of the gas. The temperature of the filament is indirectly proportional to the pressure; as the pressure decreases, the filament's temperature rises due to reduced heat dissipation.

The sensor converts the temperature change into a corresponding electrical signal, usually a voltage output, which can then be calibrated and displayed as a pressure reading. Pirani sensors are valued for their simplicity, reliability, and suitability for a broad range of vacuum applications.

Builder in Product TAB

NEW! Since Journal 3.2, the much improved T.A.B (Tabs Accordion Blocks) system supports the page builder inside the tab content. Unlimited Blocks, Tabs or Accordions with any HTML content or the builder interface (supporting custom rows/columns/modules) can be assigned to any individual product or to certain groups of products, like entire categories, brands, products with specific options, attributes, price range, etc. You can indicate any criteria via the advanced product assignment mechanism and only those products matching your criteria will display the modules. Also, any module can be selectively activated per device (desktop/tablet/phone), customer login status and other criteria. Imagine the possibilities.
