Tips: Accuracy of stepper motor

The accuracy of stepper motor is generally ±5% of stepping angle and the error is not accumulated. The main purpose of subdividing drive is to realize the better rotational smoothness of the stepper motor. Well, the stepping angle is also subdivided correspondingly. However, the accuracy consistency of subdivided stepping angle is not desirable. The subdivided angular accuracy is not guaranteed.
The stepping angle of the stepper motor is also called resolution ratio. The stepping angle of PM stepper motor is large. The common stepping angles include 7.5°, 15° and 18° and a few of step angle is 3.75°. The stepping angle of common 2-phase hybrid stepper motor is 1.8° and 0.9°. The stepping angle of 3-phase hybrid stepper motor is 1.2° and a few is 0.6°, which shall be the stepper motor with the highest resolution ratio in the market. The stepping angle of 5-phase stepper motor is 0.72°, which is the one among standard products with the smallest stepping angle, but its cost is also the highest.
Generally, the stepper motor with small stepping angle is applicable for the low-velocity rotation while that with large stepping angle for the high-velocity rotation.
