Tips: What is a double inlet centrifugal fan?

A double inlet centrifugal fan is a type of fan that uses two inlets to draw air into the fan casing. This design improves airflow efficiency and increases the fan's capacity compared to single inlet models. In a double inlet centrifugal fan, air enters the fan from both sides of the impeller, which is located centrally within the casing. As the impeller spins, it accelerates the air outward and directs it through a volute or diffuser, which converts the kinetic energy into static pressure and directs the airflow out of the fan outlet. This configuration provides higher airflow rates and more balanced air distribution, making it suitable for applications requiring substantial air movement, such as in HVAC systems, industrial ventilation, and large-scale cooling systems. The double inlet design helps reduce noise and improve overall performance in demanding environments.
