Tips: How does the 90° scattered light method work in the turbidity sensor?

The 90° scattered light method used in turbidity sensors measures suspended particles in water by emitting a light beam, typically from an infrared LED, into the water. Suspended particles scatter the light, and a photodetector positioned at a 90° angle captures the scattered light, minimizing interference from the direct light source. The intensity of the scattered light is proportional to the turbidity, and the sensor processes this signal into a turbidity measurement, expressed in NTU. A built-in temperature sensor (Pt1000) compensates for temperature effects, ensuring accurate and consistent results. This method is effective due to its sensitivity to small particles, reduced interference, and reliability, making it ideal for applications in water quality monitoring and treatment.
