Tips: Working principle of star delta starter

For a cage-type three-phase asynchronous motor whose stator windings are connected in a delta during normal operation, if the stator windings are connected in a star shape at startup, and then connected in a delta shape after starting, the starting current can be reduced and the impact of the motor on the power grid can be reduced. Such a start-up method is called a star-delta decompression start, or Y/△ start for short. The star-delta starter is to change the wiring method of the stator winding of the three-phase asynchronous motor, so that the motor is connected in a star connection when starting, and then connected in a delta connection after the start, so as to achieve the purpose of decompression start.
